with deepest sympathy

after dinner at Ohsho last nite, i was sadly awakened by a news from my department.

my deepest condolences and sympathy to the family of A/P Ananda Raja.

A/P Raja has suddenly been called home to the Lord on Tuesday, 9th January 07.

he has suffered a heart attack in his office, collapsed and passed on.

I have faith and trust in God, that our dear Prof will be now at a better place,

while leaving us with a better sociological understanding of this world.

"Dear Ananda,
you have been more than a great teacher, but also a friend.

you have been a man who fought for his beliefs, inspiring us to be passionate about our

work and life. you have guided us with dedication, encouraging us to soar higher. your death is

indeed a great loss to our department and future sociologists. we (the Honors class of 06/07)

will remember you fondly, for taking us in your Social Movements and Collective Actions course.

you will be missed deeply, for that ever-smiling face, that Marlboro Man in jeans, the beers,

cigarettes and political jokes. indeed, we have been priviledged to have been taught and

rigorously trained by you. it is painful to stand outside your office, where your work, papers,

journals and post-it notes still lying on your desk, where you have placed them yesterday.

everything seems to say that you are still around, when you have just left us in a sudden.

it only seems like yesterday, when we were sitting in your lectures and having consultations

with you in your office, today an empty room. time will heal all pain and we will meet again at a

better place. may your soul rest in peace and eternal joy"

Blessings,
Paveena Seah (06/07)
